Car problems

We collected her in April 2000 and although she had been a display model at the local Ford dealership and had a few battle scars ( cigarette burns on the drivers seat, and 11,000 miles on the clock),I fell in love with her solid dependability.

She has rarely let me down and has been on numerous family holidays, taken me to pick up new members of our family, driven us all for a further 110,000 miles, and on one memorable occasion, taken me safely to hospital when I really should not have been driving. Lots of happy memories of a common or garden Ford Galaxy !!!

But my lovely old work horse is on her last legs/wheels. We have been together through thick and thin ( mostly thick !!) and over the years, I have come to know and love her strange ways, but now enough is enough...

The tyre that needs pumping up every weekend without fail, the passenger window that I can't operate from the drivers side, the drivers window that won't open at all, the funny noise from under the back end that my mechanic assures me is not the exghaust, the heating that will heat the back of the car but not the front and now I can't defrost the windscreen i the mornings without planning ahead and starting her up an hour before I can drive her anywhere !!!

I started this blog with the intention of asking for suggestions of which car I should go for next, but as I type, I realise that I don't want another car, I don't want a small sensible 'runaround' that won't cost too much in petrol and is more environmentally friendly - NO I want a big, fat, fuel guzzelling, carbon emmitting, politically incorrect, oil burning wreck that needs me as much as I need her !!!

But we can't always have what we want ( SOD IT !!) , so I am off to the local dealerships to see what is on offer - watch this space, who knows I may fall in love all over again with a different model !!!
